Miscellaneous Photos |
| These are just various photos of fish that I own or have owned . I didn't have enough to fit in any particular category, so I lumped them all together here.. If you have any questions regarding the specific fish, please drop me an e-mail. |
Photos of the downstairs Fish Room...my bat cave. |
Ornate Bichir |
Picture: Catfish at The Shark Aquarium. All were three to four foot long. |
Picture: Male Salvini. Someone said the common name for this should be "the Yellow Menace" because of it's attitude. |
Picture: Haplochromis Polystigma. One of the few African Cichlids I've owned. They hunt their food by playing dead lying on their side motionless at the bottom of the tank. When food swims by they snatch it. Very cool and hardy fish. |
Picture: Female Salvini. |
Picture: Herotilapia Multispinosa. The Rainbow Cichlid |
Picture: Juvenile Salvini |
Picture: Fredrichsthali
|
Picture: Male and female Salvini |
|
Picture: Juvenile Buttikoferi
|
Picture: More tank shots. I like to get as creative as possible with the
tank decor. This is partially because I can't keep live
plants. |
Picture: Tank shot with a definite theme. You can see the Salvini in the foreground. |
Picture: Dormitator Maculatus. The Spotted Sleeper Goby. I saw these for sale in a Chinese supermarket for seven bucks a pound. |
Picture: The Convict. I call them "rats with fins" because of their breeding. There is also a photo of a Marbled Convict with fry and an Pink Convict as well.
|
Picture: Juvenile Gold Severum |
Picture: A contradiction in theory. What's wrong with this photo? Note the variety of fish that are not "supposed" to be able to live together.
|
Picture: Aequidens Tetramerus
|
Picture: Pike |
Picture: Hoplias Malabaricus...the Wolf fish. This is the most voracious eater I own. I had two. This one committed "death by floor". They are notorious escape artists and can breath for a time out of water.
|
Picture: Tank shot with breeding Archocentrus Centrarchus |
Picture: Jewel Cichlid |
Picture: Here's a photo of a friend's Oscar. It has a particularly nasty case of hole-in-the-head. Oscar's are very susceptible to this disease. |
Picture: Basket Mouth Cichlid |
Picture: Transparent Knife Fish |
Picture: Juvenile Lyonsi. Very pretty fish. I have included a photo of an adult male taken by the webmaster at the Cichlid Scene during a visit to a breeder,
|
Picture: Facetum - This fish is wild caught, It is also know as a Chanchito. It's been around in the hobby a long time but not available until recently. |
Picture: Hemichromis Elongatus - Five Spot Cichlid. Another one of the few African Cichlids I own. Impressive male specimen.
|
Picture: Blue Gourami - With all of the large aggressive fish I own this might seem a bit odd to have five of these. A friend gave them to me and I put them in the pond expecting them to be "food" in a day. Surprisingly they are all still alive after five months. |
Picture: Nicaraqua Cichlid. I am going to devote a page to this Cichlid, but in the meantime decided to post them here. |
Picture: I can't tell you how many of the "Festae" I have purchased over the years that have turned out to be Urophthalmus. |
Picture: Loiselle Cichlid |
Grammode |
Juvenile Tetracanthus and Clown Knife |
Istlantum: Far right two photos illustrates what happens |
C. Tomosopoensis |
