prepared food. I have read where introducing them to
"live" food could cause them to refuse all other, but have not
confirmed this. |

| Compatibility: Juveniles can be kept with
other fish...except another Umbee. As the Umbee matures they will
begin climbing the pecking order until they dominate the tank. It
has been described as all muscle, mouth, stomach and attitude.
When it is matured it will attempt to penetrate the front glass of the
aquarium to get at passers-by. |
| Comments: I have a male and a female and have
attempted to get them to breed with no luck. Both times the male
was with the female he beat her within an inch of her life. I have
since isolated the male into his own tank as a "showpiece". |
